Set amidst the verdant rice paddies of Bali’s greenbelt, La Maison d'Ulysse by LUASA Architects is a masterful expression of tropical modernism. Completed in 2021, the four-bedroom residence is defined by its striking massing of stacked geometric cubes that foster a deep connection with the surrounding landscape.
The facade presents a refined interplay of textures: slatted tropical ironwood panels mitigate direct sunlight on the upper volumes, while delicate open-fiber concrete screens—inspired by classic Arabic Mashrabiya—elegantly frame the entryway. Inside, an unrestricted open floor plan dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior. Expansive glass walls flood the spaces with natural light, highlighting a curated palette of organic materials and neutral tones that ultimately shape a tranquil, eco-conscious sanctuary.
